MY MONSTER SCRAPBOOK: A LIZARD IN A WOMAN'S SKIN

AN EROTIC NIGHTMARE THAT KEEPS YOU ON THE EDGE OF AN ABYSS OF TERROR!

"Anyway you look at it," writes L.A. Times film critic Kevin Thomas, "A LIZARD IN A WOMAN'S SKIN is a waste." Like so many giallo and murder/thriller imports of the time, the gawd-awful dubbing is nearly always cited as a problem.

An American International release of a Lucio Fulci multi-national collaboration, A LIZARD IN A WOMAN'S SKIN is notable for it's presence of the dark and stunning Brazilian beauty Florinda Bolkan and the themes of lesbianiasm.

A horror film? Maybe. A horror of a film? Probably. I finally rented a video copy years later and was stupefied at its pseudo-hip pretentiousness. It's worth a viewing, though, if nothing else than to watch Miss Bolkan and her lesbian fantasies and to listen to the Ennio Morricone's musical score.

Mr. Thomas sums up A LIZARD IN A WOMAN'S SKIN with, "It's a deliriously silly, extravagantly arty but actually thouroughly routine murder mystery, an Italo-Franco-Spanish coproduction -- set in London!"
