THE MUMMY REVIVED

Every Monster Kid worth his garlic knows that it was the re-release of the Universal monster movies from the 1957 SHOCK! package for TV was the genius loci of the modern-day monster industry. Without that, and without the monster magazines that publicized them like FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND, HORROR MONSTERS, MAD MONSTERS, and CASTLE OF FRANKENSTEIN, it's likely we wouldn't be here reading about monsters, horror films, and all the toys, models, games, figures, that went went it.

THE MUMMY celebrated it's 80th anniversary of release just a few days ago. Karloff's Im-ho-tep was one of the monsters unleashed by the SHOCK! package from Screen Gems, a division of Columbia Pictures. Here is the cover and page from the program guide that marketed it along with the other 51 films.
