We've been captivated by sightings and stories of unnatural creatures of the sea for thousands of years. From giant squid to living dinosaurs, stories have come unabated, from men of the sea.

Whether or not these creatures have been mistakenly identified, as-yet unnamed, or a product of mass hallucination, the truth of the matter is that the stories have spread and even been popularized as long as tales have been told. One question still remains, however -- could any of these stories be true?

At one time in the 1970s, publisher Myron Fass had more titles on the newsstands than anyone else in the country. He is best known for his line, Eerie Publications, which published a group of magazines that rebooted the horror comics of the 1950s. Fass also published a number of "human interest" magazines. One of them was SEA MONSTERS. Intended to capitalize on the public's renewed interest in cryptozoology, the title included stories from antiquity, as well as modern tales of sightings and encounters with monsters of the deep. Personally, I have always been fascinated by these so-called "sea monsters". How can all of them be explained away? Can't some of them be real?
