RARE FRANKENSTEIN HERALD

Movie heralds were "throw away" ballyhoo used by movie theaters to publicize movies that were playing at their establishment. True to their purpose, fans read them and threw them away -- which today makes them extremely rare and very collectible.

Shown here is a herald for Universal's FRANKENSTEIN (1931). It sold for $1,700 at auction in 2004.
